Chassagne-Montrachet: quality white wines

Chassagne-Montrachet, more simply known as Chassagne, is the champion of white wines. Situated in Burgundy' s Côte de Beaune region, the commune also manages a 315-hectare appellation d'origine contrôlée. The vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet are home to no fewer than 57 Premiers Crus and 3 Grands Crus. It has to be said that the essentially clay-limestone soil is ideal for producing exceptional crus

Chassagne-Montrachet wines are primarily whites, and it is these dry whites that have forged the reputation of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet. There are, however, a few reds classified as Premiers Crus, such as Morgeot, which is made from pinot noir. As for the whites, all you need is a Grand Cru Montrachet or Bâtard-Montrachet to realise the potential of this vineyard. They offer a fine minerality and unfailing elegance. Their flavours are innovative, adding an often surprising biscuity taste to the dried fruit and spices. At the table, they go well with all kinds of meat, with the emphasis on poultry and game birds. If you have bottles of Chassagne-Montrachet, you should know that Vins Grands Crus offers to sell its wine at the best price.
