Domaine Leroy: the nobility of kings' wines
Founded by François Leroy in 1868, this prestigious estate has one of the richest histories in Burgundy. In 1942, François' grandson Henri persuaded his friends De Villaine and Jacques Chambon not to sell their share of the de
Romanée Conti vineyard, which had been on sale for many years in a Paris notary's office during the crisis of the 1920s. 20 years later, in 1942, Jacques Chambon finally sold his shares, which means that Maison Leroy still owns the Romanée
Conti estate today.
For more than 40 years, Henri devoted himself entirely to his vineyards at Romanée Conti, and today his daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy is his successor. For a long time, from 1974 to 1992,
Maison Leroy distributed the wines of Aubert de Villain's Domaine de la Romanée Conti, the most prestigious estate in the world.
In 1988, Takashimaya, the famous owner of a luxury boutique in Japan, acquired a stake in the company and enabled the
Leroy estates to expand by acquiring vineyards in ideal locations, such as the
Charles Noellat estate in
Vosne Roman&e acute;e.
The Leroy estate now owns 22 hectares in some of the world's most sought-after terroirs, and Lalou Bize-Leroy continues to devote herself entirely to her passion for wine, working to the highest standards of quality.
She has clearly established herself as an emblematic figure in
Burgundy , making her rare wines world-renowned
